The Role - Painter & Decorator
We are seeking a skilled Painter & Decorator to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the hotel's interior and exterior spaces are well-maintained and visually appealing.
Main Responsibilities
- Undertake general painting and decorating maintenance and refurbishment in all areas of the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
- Assist with French polishing repairs, with training provided if needed.
- Undertake general maintenance and refurbishment work using trade skills, including plastering repair work.
- Undertake a range of internal/external painting and redecoration tasks, including preparation work using hand-held power tools.
- Undertake silicone replacement or new silicone application jobs.
- Undertake preparation to surfaces in readiness for application of decorative products, including mixing and thinning paint to obtain desired color and texture.
- Apply paint or other materials, such as stains, lacquer, enamel, oil, varnish, fibreglass, wood, metal coating, or fire retardant, using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment, following manufacturer's recommendations.
- Comply with all company and other health & safety requirements at all times.
- Manage stock of painting and decorating tools and materials, including purchasing items as needed.
Requirements
- Must have at least two years of previous experience in a similar role, ideally from a hotel environment.
- The ideal candidate will have the following skills, knowledge & experience:
- A qualified trade license.
- Previous hotel or complex building engineering background.
- Ability to work as part of a diverse team.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Flexibility with working weekends when rostered on.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Good all-round knowledge of building services.
- Excellent teamwork, customer care, and problem-solving capabilities.
