Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic individual for the position of Senior Buyer to join our Purchasing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering and managing all aspects of purchasing, including:

  • Running MRP summary reports and raising purchase orders;
  • Highlighting and actioning any shortages or potential shortages;
  • Managing delivery schedules and order books of components for production, engineering, and NPI projects;
  • Calculating and distributing demand forecasts to the supply base;
  • Compiling supplier performance reports and managing the supplier base;
  • Ensuring suppliers adhere to SLA conditions and terms;
  • Interacting closely with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues;
  • Coordinating with engineering departments on New Product Introductions;
  • Ensuring new suppliers are appraised through relevant QA/ISO evaluation systems;
  • Managing procurement business system data input and integrity;
  • Managing item attributes to facilitate Coherent Corp.'s Kanban strategy;
  • Participating in maximizing the procurement team's changes and part parameters;
  • Performing cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities;
  • Delivering on Key Performance Measures, including supplier OTD, inventory targets, and SOX Compliance;
  • Taking ownership and managing Key Local Suppliers;
  • Providing support to Strategic Sourcing Managers.

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Previous experience in Purchasing/Logistics in an MRP and Kanban environment;
  • Proficient user of MS Office packages;
  • Oracle and Cumulus experience is a distinct advantage;
  • Degree-level qualification, ideally CIPS/BPICS qualified, is an advantage;
  • Domestic or global expertise of assigned commodities;
  • Solution-driven approach to daily operational issues;
  • Solid administrative skills with the ability to deliver against tight deadlines;
  • Able to work on your own initiative and self-motivated with a positive approach;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and confident to communicate at all levels within a culturally diverse workforce;
  • Negotiation and supply chain relationship management skills.
