About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Automation Engineer to join our Applications Engineering team at Mpac Group. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting our sales team with converting opportunities into revenue across all products and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Be the trusted partner of the customer, delivering technical solutions and roadmaps that meet their needs.
  • Develop and deliver technical presentations that showcase our products and services.
  • Manage tender delivery and support project teams during implementation phases with technical leadership.
  • Actively build relationships with internal and external key stakeholders.
Core Deliverables/Outputs
  • Effectively communicate and present the business products and services, including creating flow diagrams, 3D models, layouts, and animations.
  • Develop the best value technical solution to meet the customer's needs.
  • Develop roadmaps that take account of technical and commercial risk and ensure our proposed solution can be successfully delivered without undue risk to either us or the customer.
  • Support the sales team during customer visits by providing technical presentations of the concept, features, and benefits.
  • Evaluate and generate project costs and quote engineering change requests, supporting the project's dedicated Programme Manager, ensuring tenders are commercially viable and project schedule is maintained.
  • Take full ownership of the technical solution development, ensuring the validation process is followed and delivered.
  • Develop specifications for the supply chain partners and ensure they operate in line with and demonstrate a clear understanding of our needs.
  • Support the project teams during the implementation phases with strategic and technical leadership.
  • Work with all Mpac Group colleagues to ensure compliance with ISO14001, ISO9001, and OHSAS18001 and support a culture of Lean and Continuous Improvement by complying with appropriate Standard Operating Procedures.
Requirements
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, adjusting approach or communication channel to suit the circumstances.
  • A proven, high level of understanding of general engineering, machine building processes, and project Lifecycle.
  • The ability to conceptualise complex and value-added automation solutions, through application and development of innovative in-house processes and incorporating the best technology available.
  • Technically competent with various software programs, such as Microsoft office, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, together with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills at all levels.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience of operating at a senior strategic level with a proven, high level of commercial awareness.
  • Developed coaching and team management skills.
  • Valid Driving Licence.
  • A relevant degree or be vocationally educated (HNC, HND, apprenticeship) in an Engineering discipline.
  • Good commercial acumen along with an understanding of market pricing and competitor influence.
