About the Role

The Head of Commercial Management will lead and be responsible for all commercial aspects of the business, reporting directly to the CEO. This role is a key position in our UK operations, and the successful candidate will play a critical part in driving our commercial strategy forward.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial Risk Management: Manage commercial risk and communicate this across various stakeholders within the business, ensuring that governance and reporting processes are in place to mitigate it.
  • Supplier Engagement: Lead the development and management of positive supplier relationships through open and constructive dialogue.
  • Sourcing Strategies: Direct and implement clear sourcing strategies for designated portfolios, driving best practice processes and systems in areas of pre-contract management for projects and programmes.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead the negotiation of high-value, complex contracts to support delivery of business priorities and manage the efficient and effective delivery of those contracts.
  • Compliance and Control: Provide means of control and compliance through effective policies, procedures, and delegated authority structures.
  • Business Risk Mitigation: Mitigate potential business risk through contractual, commercial, and claims management support.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop relationships with key stakeholders, customers, and suppliers and act as a figurehead for the function, providing visible leadership both within and outside the programme.
  • Programme Development: Develop and implement programmes and initiatives to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.

Key Requirements

  • Leadership Experience: Experience of leading large teams and strong leadership in a complex environment, with senior-level experience of policy and direction setting.
  • Supplier Engagement: Strong supplier engagement and development skills to drive effective contract and supplier relationship management.
  • Supply Chain Management: Best practice supply chain management within relevant markets to push benefits delivery (financial and non-financial) within project environments.
  • Client Management: Proven experience of client management.
  • Negotiation: Proven experience of negotiation.
  • MEP Projects: Previous experience working on large MEP projects.
  • M&E Sector: Previous experience working within the M&E sector.

Technical Knowledge

  • NEC Contracts: Knowledge and comprehensive understanding of NEC contracts (all options).
  • Construction Law: Demonstratable knowledge and understanding of construction law and standard forms of contract.
  • Engineering Standards: Knowledge of engineering and client standards.
  • Financial Management: Knowledge and demonstratable understanding of financial management.
  • MS Packages: Adept knowledge of MS packages, including Excel, Project, and Word.

Qualifications

  • Quantity Surveying: Degree qualified in quantity surveying or equivalent.
  • Professional Membership: Professional membership with RICS, CIOB, or equivalent.
  • CSCS Card: Hold a valid CSCS card.
  • Full UK Driver's License: Full UK driver's license.
