Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

Leader Education is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) school in Sunderland.

This secondary school caters for young people aged 11-19 years with Autism and/or complex learning difficulties. The school has a recent Ofsted rating of 'Good' and is committed to providing the best possible educational experiences for their pupils.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a transferable role and be able to assist pupils in lessons and activities. They will be flexible and resilient, meeting the diverse needs of students, and work effectively with parents, carers, and other members of multidisciplinary teams to provide the best support.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one.
  • Have experience of working in a transferable role.
  • Assist pupils in lessons and activities.
  • Be flexible and resilient, meeting the diverse needs of students.
  • Work effectively with parents, carers, and other members of multidisciplinary teams to provide the best support.
  • Be confident in working alongside students, ensuring they are fully supported within their learning and general classroom activities.
  • Possess communication skills that can be personalised to suit students of different abilities.
