Job Description

The Director of Community Engagement position is a full-time, exempt role that is primarily responsible for overseeing the grants process and holding significant responsibility for the planning and production of communications and fund development activities. This person reports to and works with the Executive Director.

This position requires strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize as well as multi-task. Community Engagement as it relates to grants requires the ability to work with local non-profit organizations as they move through the application process as well as the volunteers involved in the process. This includes tasks such as site visits, managing grants databases, and creation of reports for the Board, auditors, etc.

Main Areas of ResponsibilityCommunity Engagement:
  1. This person will be effective at building relationships with community members, leaders, etc in order to partner and affect health equity in our region.
  2. As a part of our strategic plan, they will implement a community grants process incorporating a trust-based philanthropy model.
  3. Incorporate grantee feedback into the grants process.
  4. Tasks include site-visits, managing grants database, and creation of reports for the Board, auditors, etc.
Communications and Development:
  1. This person will promote narratives that affirm the leadership of existing community leaders and supports community-led efforts.
  2. They will increase constituents' awareness of health equity issues in communities we serve (e.g. creation and distribution of newsletters, etc).
  3. Administrative tasks include items such as: donor acknowledgement letters, CRM data entry, and creation/promotion of events.

Professional Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required– experience in social work and/or public health highly preferred.
  • Five years of experience in a professional setting minimum.
  • Nonprofit or foundation experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite applications (Office, Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Familiarity with Network for Good and Foundant (grants management) database management a plus.
