About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Quarry Manager to join our operations team at Tarmac Leapers Wood Quarry in Lancashire. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in the safe and efficient operation of the quarry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a highly skilled team to ensure business continuity and reduce business risk.
  • Lead change and continuous improvement initiatives, maintaining disciplined stock management processes and producing operational reports.
  • Oversee all aspects of budgetary control for all quarrying operations.
  • Proactively manage an effective maintenance scheme for the quarry plant and equipment.
  • Maintain and implement Standard Operating Procedures and risk assessments.
  • Manage and oversee the safe operation of the plant and the planned preventative maintenance of all of the site's equipment fixed and mobile.
  • Report and investigate any unsafe or hazardous working practices.
  • Issue safety briefings and toolbox talks to your operational team.
  • Manage proactively both mandatory training and developmental training of your staff.
  • Collate and report monthly performance KPIs and drive operational performance.

Requirements

  • Indepth experience gained within Quarrying Operations and a good understanding of Quarry Regulations.
  • Full knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe System of Work Systems.
  • Working knowledge of production processes, Health, Safety and Environmental policies.
  • SHE NVQ Level 4/QCF Level 6.
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint (SAP advantageous).
  • Ability to multitask and confidently manage change.
  • Good understanding of different methods of winning and extracting raw material.
  • Knowledge of techniques employed to load and transport extracted minerals.
  • Working knowledge handling raw materials including feeding, crushing, screening, washing, separation, classification and beneficiation techniques.
  • IOSH/NEBOSH advantageous.
  • Diploma in Quarry Technology/FdSc Extractives Technology advantageous.
