About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our East Assessment and Treatment Service (ATS) in Brighton & Hove. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing specialist medical and psychiatric assessments and evidence-based treatment to patients with complex and unstable mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical supervision to junior staff and informal advice and supervision to non-medical team members
  • Fulfill the duties of Responsible Clinician for patients subject to Community Treatment Orders, including attendance at Managers Hearings and Tribunals
  • Conduct Mental Health Act assessments for patients on the team caseload
  • Liaise with inpatient Responsible Clinicians, forensic teams, and drug and alcohol services as required

Person Specification

We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist with the following qualifications and experience:

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • Excellent knowledge in psychiatry and excellent oral and written communication skills in English
