Our Integrated Maintenance and Repair Water Recycling Alliance (IMR WRA) plays a crucial role in this mission, ensuring environmental and social benefits through our commitment to responsible water management.

The IMR WRA, which includes Anglian Water, Clancy, Claret Civil Engineering, Public Sewer Services, and Danaher & Walsh, oversees planned and emergency sewer operations, rising mains, and the installation of SMART technology, alongside maintenance and repair tasks across the area.

To facilitate seamless project execution, we are seeking skilled Project Engineers to enhance our team.

Role Overview:

As a member of the Central Commercial Team, you will support the execution of multiple projects during the AMP7 regulatory period, with a projected value of approximately £78M.

  • Your primary responsibilities will include the repair and maintenance of essential water recycling infrastructure, focusing on high-value and complex projects such as flood protection, gravity sewers, rising main relays, and manhole chambers.
  • You will ensure that all estimates are delivered to the required quality standards and within the established timelines.
  • Operating under an outperformance contract model, you will critically assess all aspects of construction and non-construction costs, including Health & Safety, Project Risk, and Overheads, necessitating a strong understanding of commercial and project management principles.
  • You will maintain meticulous records of all estimates for auditing and review purposes, assisting the project team in navigating affordability challenges through the established contractual framework.

Reporting Structure:

The successful candidate will report directly to the Commercial Lead.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate CAPEX Estimates tailored to the project's stage, ranging from high-level comparative estimates for optioneering to detailed bottom-up estimates for Target Cost development.
  • Familiarize yourself with the systems utilized for preparing estimates, and collaborate with senior team members to recommend and implement enhancements once proficient.
  • Focus on standardization and increased accuracy of estimates, a key priority for IMR WRA in the upcoming periods.
  • Organize and assure cost base records.
  • Collaborate closely with quantity surveyors to ensure accurate capture of cost information from estimates and facilitate a smooth transition of this information into planning and forecasting tools.

Required Skills and Attributes:

  • This position is ideal for an Estimator with approximately 2 years of experience seeking career advancement, though candidates with relevant engineering or quantity surveying backgrounds will also be considered.
  • A degree in Engineering or Quantity Surveying, or equivalent estimating experience is essential.
  • Previous estimating experience in infrastructure or utilities is preferred.
  • Familiarity with estimating software is advantageous.
  • Strong motivational, numerical, and analytical skills are required.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication abilities are essential.
  • A commitment to continuous personal development and improvement of knowledge and skills is expected.
