At Anglian Water, we partner with various organizations to deliver exceptional water recycling services throughout the region. Our focus is on maintaining existing infrastructure while initiating new projects to ensure the sustainability of our water recycling assets.

The Integrated Maintenance and Repair Water Recycling Alliance (IMR WRA) plays a vital role in our mission to promote environmental and social well-being. This alliance includes Anglian Water, Clancy, Claret Civil Engineering, Public Sewer Services, and Danaher & Walsh, managing both planned and emergency sewer operations, rising mains, and SMART technology installations, alongside maintenance and repair tasks.

We are currently seeking skilled Project Engineers to facilitate the smooth execution of our projects.

Responsibilities of the Estimator:

As a member of the Central Commercial Team, you will support the execution of multiple projects within the AMP7 regulatory framework (Year 5 value approximately £78M).

  • Your primary responsibilities will involve the repair and maintenance of critical water recycling infrastructure, focusing on large-scale and complex projects such as flood protection, gravity sewers, rising main relays, and manhole chambers.
  • You will ensure that all estimates are delivered to the required quality standards and within agreed timelines.
  • Operating under an outperformance contract model, you will critically assess all aspects of construction and non-construction costs, including Health & Safety, Project Risk, and Overheads, necessitating a strong understanding of commercial and project management.
  • Maintaining meticulous records and clarity of all estimates for audit and review purposes, you will support the project team in navigating affordability challenges through established contractual processes.

Reporting Structure:

The successful candidate will report directly to the Commercial Lead.

Key Duties:

  • Generate CAPEX Estimates tailored to the project's stage, ranging from high-level comparative estimates for optioneering to detailed bottom-up estimates for Target Cost development.
  • Familiarize yourself with the systems utilized for preparing estimates, and once proficient, collaborate with senior team members to propose and implement enhancements.
  • Standardization and increased accuracy of estimates are top priorities for IMR WRA for Year 5 and AMP8.
  • Organize and assure cost base records.
  • Collaborate closely with quantity surveyors to ensure accurate capture of cost information from estimates and facilitate a seamless transition of this information into planning and forecasting tools.

Required Skills and Attributes:

  • This position is ideal for an Estimator with approximately 2 years of experience seeking career advancement; however, we will also consider Engineers or Quantity Surveyors with relevant experience.
  • A degree in Engineering or Quantity Surveying or equivalent estimating experience is required.
  • Experience in estimating within infrastructure or utilities is essential.
  • Familiarity with estimating software is advantageous.
  • Strong motivational, numerical, and analytical skills are necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team are essential.
  • A commitment to personal development and continuous improvement of knowledge and skills is expected.
