Job Title: Assistant Engineering Manager

As a key member of the engineering team, you will assist the Engineering Manager in ensuring the efficient operation of the engineering department. Your primary focus will be on supporting the team in achieving high levels of service delivery, while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and operating within budget.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the management of engineering costs and resources to optimize efficiency and capability.
  • Lead and supervise the team to ensure they undertake maintenance, repair, and overhaul of vehicles and components to set specifications.
  • Identify and address areas of improvement within fleet reliability, focusing on breakdown reduction, planned maintenance, and lost mileage.
  • Work closely with the Engineering Manager to develop and implement strategies for improving engineering processes and reducing costs.
Requirements:
  • A strong engineering background with experience in maintenance, repair, and overhaul of heavy vehicles, equipment, and/or machinery.
  • Proven experience in a similar role or a recognized apprenticeship in a relevant mechanical, electrical engineering, or similar field.
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety and the ability to lead by example in adherence to related working policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Experience of working in partnership with Trade Union representatives.
