Overview

This position is part of a Talent Pool, allowing us to reach out when a Roster Administrator opportunity arises. We anticipate roles will be available in various locations.

As a Roster Administrator, your primary responsibility will be to ensure that maintenance personnel are appropriately scheduled to perform essential maintenance tasks, thereby facilitating a safe and efficient service for our passengers and freight clients. You will undergo a comprehensive training program lasting 5-6 weeks to equip you with the necessary skills to thrive in this position.

Key Responsibilities

Your role will involve maintaining effective and compliant rosters for employees, adhering to the relevant company standards and national rostering principles, as well as the agreed Terms and Conditions.

This position can be offered on a permanent full-time basis or adjusted to accommodate part-time hours or job-sharing arrangements.

About the Role

This is a newly created position as part of our initiative to modernize our maintenance operations. While prior experience in staff rostering is advantageous, we welcome applications from candidates who possess a suitable combination of skills, including:

  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • A strong desire to solve problems and tackle challenges
  • Effective planning abilities, while also being adaptable to last-minute changes
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively
  • Proficiency in IT, particularly in Excel and Word, with a willingness to learn our specialized rostering system

As this is a new role, we will provide a tailored training package that includes:

  • An introduction to our organization and operational structure
  • A classroom-based course on Effective & Efficient Rostering to equip you for success
  • Training on Fatigue Management standards and conducting fatigue assessments
  • Site visits to meet maintenance teams and understand local operational needs
  • Briefing sessions with Section Managers to comprehend their requirements
  • Formal training in Excel

Daily Activities

Each day will present unique challenges, and you can expect to engage in the following tasks:

  1. Compile and publish rosters using the corporate rostering tool, in alignment with Maintenance Rostering Principles and company policies.
  2. Prepare weekly rosters, accounting for sickness, annual leave, training, and special arrangements, while coordinating with line managers to verify roster data.
  3. Manage last-minute roster changes, liaising with affected employees and line managers, and resolving any roster-related inquiries.
  4. Coordinate roster arrangements for medical evaluations and interviews.
  5. Organize roster schedules for safety-critical competence expirations, training sessions, and briefings.
  6. Monitor competency data to ensure that roster shifts are adequately covered.
  7. Collaborate with Competency Delivery Specialists to maintain accurate competency records.
  8. Collect and analyze fatigue data, bringing any concerns to the attention of the relevant line manager.
  9. Provide necessary information and data to support reporting requirements for the route and delivery unit.
