About the Role

The Highway Maintenance Operations division is tasked with executing a variety of scheduled and responsive maintenance tasks across different highway assets.

These responsibilities encompass street illumination, drainage systems, high-speed routes, and urgent repairs. The division also provides out-of-hours and winter services. A position has opened within the Street Lighting team of highway maintenance operations for a Street Lighting Technician.

Key Responsibilities

The primary duty of this role involves the upkeep, repair, installation, and testing of electrical systems and assets in accordance with National Highway Sector Scheme standards.

You will be expected to perform maintenance on assets such as street lights, illuminated signage, and street furniture, within the adopted highway, as well as other assets managed by the authority.

Additionally, you will respond to emergency or urgent requests to repair highway equipment or ensure equipment safety, both during and outside of standard working hours.

What We Seek

We are in search of a qualified electrician to become part of our dedicated street lighting team. Candidates should possess experience in a construction, engineering, or highways setting. A City & Guilds qualification is required, and it is preferable to have qualifications that meet the relevant Sector Scheme standards.

You will collaborate with team members (electricians and lamp attendants) and across various disciplines, while also demonstrating the ability to work independently.

Additional Requirements

Candidates should have a solid understanding of on-site health and safety protocols. Participation in out-of-hours call-outs is necessary. You should be adept at utilizing technology and equipment as needed. The role requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and various locations.
