BELONG LONDON is a pioneering organization dedicated to providing long-term, individualized responses to conflict and crime through restorative justice, psychotherapy, mentoring, and training for criminal justice professionals.
We are seeking committed and compassionate individuals to volunteer as one-to-one mentors with us. As a mentor, you will work with young people and adults serving prison sentences or community sentences in London, providing support and guidance to help them achieve a crime-free future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build a professional working relationship with individuals to support their rehabilitation and reintegration into society
- Offer guidance and support to access education, training, and employment opportunities
- Help individuals develop life skills and work through previous traumas
- Facilitate positive relationships and a crime-free future
Requirements:
- Qualification in criminology, psychology, or a relevant area
- At least one year of experience working with children, young people, or adults facing disadvantages
- Able to commit to the role for at least one year
What We Offer:
- Initial two-day training course at HMP Brixton, HMPYOI Feltham, or HMPYOI Isis
- Prison security vetting and/or an enhanced DBS check
- Further training at the prison in which mentors are volunteering
- Full support and supervision
