P&A Shopfitting is a rapidly expanding privately-owned enterprise that specializes in interior fit-outs and comprehensive new shop installations and refurbishment projects for prominent high street and luxury retail brands throughout the UK.
Role Description:
Located between Bournemouth and Southampton, P&A Shopfitting is seeking to hire an Estimator to support tender processes and deliver interior fit-out initiatives across the UK.
The Estimator plays a crucial role within the team, managing tenders from the initial inquiry stage, dispatching requests to subcontractors, and finalizing submissions under the guidance of the Commercial Director. Upon securing a tender, you will facilitate a handover and assist project managers in coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors, procuring materials, arranging equipment rentals, and scheduling deliveries as necessary.
The ideal candidate will possess experience in interior and/or shopfitting projects, ideally having progressed from a trade background to the role of Estimator.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in client meetings to help define project requirements as needed.
- Interpret design drawings from initial concepts to complete working construction plans.
- Prepare detailed, trade-specific inquiries and accurately relay pertinent information to various subcontractors.
- Effectively communicate relevant details to clients and the project team.
- Maintain a consistent high level of service and professional relationships with clients.
- Identify and mitigate risks to the business.
- Possess a solid understanding of construction techniques and materials.
- Propose ideas for enhancing company processes with a constructive and positive approach, encouraging this mindset in others.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience in the shopfitting and interior fit-out sector - ESSENTIAL
- High attention to detail - ESSENTIAL
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel - ESSENTIAL
- Strong communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation abilities - ESSENTIAL
- Capability to interpret drawings, produce take-offs, and prepare bills of quantities - ESSENTIAL
- Ability to send detailed, trade-specific inquiries and accurately communicate relevant information to subcontractors to ensure precise pricing - ESSENTIAL
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills, with a strong ability to prioritize - ESSENTIAL
- Must reside within a commutable distance - ESSENTIAL
- Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to grow within the company.
- Experience with AutoCAD - desirable but not mandatory.
- Able to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
- Experience in reviewing quotes to ensure fair, accurate, and reasonable pricing is recommended for approval.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Capable of understanding and identifying key points in client contracts.
- Effectively communicate relevant project information to clients and the project team.
- Support the project team in placing orders with suppliers and subcontractors, procuring materials, renting equipment, and scheduling deliveries as required.
- Valid UK driving license.
- Experience: Estimating/surveying: 3 years (required).
