About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Senior Healthcare Assistant to join our team at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust. As a Senior Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient-centered care in a safe clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the highest possible standards of compassionate and professional patient care, with particular attention to privacy and dignity.
- Assist patients with personal care, hygiene, and sanitary needs, ensuring privacy and dignity is maintained.
- Assist in meeting patients' nutritional needs, including non-oral nutritional and fluid intake, and ensure that patients who require assistance at mealtimes have a red tray and are assisted with eating and drinking.
- Document food and fluid intake and elimination output accurately on appropriate charts, where identified in the patient's plan of care.
- Assist in skin and pressure area care to prevent pressure ulcers developing, under the supervision of registered nurses, and help patients move position to prevent discomfort and/or pressure ulcers and promote effective respiratory function.
- Assist patients with safe mobilization according to their plan of care and seek help from other members of the ward team when necessary.
- Utilize appropriate moving and handling aids to reduce the risk of injury to the patient and yourself.
- Support therapeutic recreational activities for patients as appropriate.
- Assist registered staff in taking and recording vital signs as per the patient's plan of care.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
Essential Criteria
- An NVQ/QCF Level 2 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare Support or a commitment to undertaking and successfully completing available training and education once in post and within an agreed timeframe.
- At least six months' experience within a care setting.
Desirable Criteria
- IT skills.
- Has undertaken some recent study.
- Level 2 in English and Mathematics or equivalent.
Occupational Experience
Essential Criteria
- Understanding of the needs of patients in a care setting.
- Has a sound understanding of the need for confidentiality.
- Confident people skills.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience of working in a care setting or transferable skills, demonstrable keenness and passion for the role.
