Position Overview

Assystem Energy & Infrastructure is seeking a Chemical Process Engineer to collaborate with our client on a contractual basis.

Role Details:

Position Title: Chemical Process Engineer

Contract Duration: 12 months

Contract Type: PAYE via Umbrella solution

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Section Leader of the Chemical Process Engineering Team, which is part of the Nuclear Facilities Engineering Team.
  • Oversee the execution of chemical process engineering work packages aimed at enhancing existing facilities.
  • Guide projects through the engineering gated review process, from initial concept to operational handover.
  • Engage in daily stakeholder management with various teams, including Operations, Commissioning, Project Management, Procurement, Nuclear Safety, HSE, Radiological and Environmental Safety, and engineering Subject Matter Experts.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation.
  • Success will be measured by the timely delivery of engineering work packages that meet all stakeholder requirements, based on the experience of the successful candidate.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemical Process Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience within the nuclear sector.
  • Demonstrated expertise in chemical process design.
  • Experience in delivering capital projects within a regulated environment.
  • Proven track record in managing complex engineering design projects from conception to execution.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience in stakeholder management.
Additional Information

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in the design of nuclear facilities.
  • Understanding of the relationship between nuclear safety cases and engineering design.
  • Experience in the commissioning and installation of chemical process plants.
  • Background in project handover to operations and troubleshooting.

Security Clearance:
This position requires the candidate to possess a minimum of Security Check (SC) clearance without any restrictions. Due to the nature of the work and the need to protect certain assets, candidates must be UK nationals or, in approved cases, dual nationals from non-ITAR countries.
