Position Overview

Role: Field Service Engineer

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Northampton

Since our acquisition by The Briggs Equipment Group in 2018, we have continued to enhance our offerings in asset management and maintenance solutions across the UK and Ireland.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Visit client sites to evaluate the scope of work required, collaborating with the end user to prioritize tasks while ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Maintain communication with both the controller and the customer throughout the project, ensuring all parties are aligned on expected timelines and costs.
  • Diagnose breakdowns efficiently and procure necessary parts in a cost-effective manner, utilizing available resources including the Briggs Technical team when needed.
  • Ensure all tasks comply with engineering standards and relevant specifications.
  • Conduct inspections of your work to guarantee equipment functionality and safety before returning it to the customer.
  • Identify additional repair needs and inform the customer, particularly when costs may be incurred, maximizing potential revenue from damaged equipment.
  • Accurately complete all job-related documentation, securing necessary approvals from the customer.

Qualifications for Success:

  • In-depth practical knowledge of at least three of the four main product areas: Engines, Hydraulics, Power Train, and Vehicle Electrics/Electronics, with familiarity in the fourth.
  • Considerable experience in a related engineering role, such as automotive mechanic or HGV fitter, or completion of a formal apprenticeship that includes at least C&G level I.
  • Proficient in IT to ensure accurate documentation on laptops.
