Site Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Site Manager within a prestigious commercial refurbishment contractor.

The Role

This position is ideal for an individual who thrives under pressure and is adept at managing their own workload.

You will be a proactive self-starter, capable of effective communication with clients, suppliers, and contractors at all levels.


Your background should include experience in supervising or working on interior fit-out and/or construction projects, enabling you to manage all onsite activities daily while reporting to the project manager or administration team.

Due to the nature of our clients' work, there may be a requirement for security clearances.


We are looking to expand our team to meet increasing workloads. The company operates nationally, and the role may involve periods of overnight stays during the week, with hotel accommodation and subsistence provided.

Key Responsibilities

As a Site Manager, you will adopt a collaborative approach to work within a team, addressing all practical aspects of a project with the aim of exceeding client expectations.

This will include:

Pre-contract:
Conducting surveys and assisting with the implementation of the Health & Safety plan.

Construction Phase:
Setting up and preparing the site
Completing daily site documentation (Inductions / Permits / Audits / Inspections)

Maintaining the project plan, scheduling, and monitoring materials and labor to ensure seamless operations and optimal productivity, while liaising with clients, authorities, and subcontractors as necessary.

Supervising subcontractors, managing contracts, controlling variations (including communicating implications to cost and schedule), and conducting progressive snagging (appraisal and application)
Collaborating with the project manager and stakeholders
Participating in site meetings with project manager/client representatives

Comfortable overseeing various aspects of carpentry, partitioning, ceiling installation, and general construction skills to meet project requirements.

Key Skills Required

Proficient in PC use

MS Word, MS Excel (MS Project is desirable)
Strong communication skills

Written, oral, and numerical proficiency
A qualification in Health and Safety site supervision and relevant site experience, SMSTS qualification
Completion of a First Aid course
Able to creatively solve problems and prioritize workloads

Ability to meet tight deadlines
A minimum of 5 years' experience in building and/or interiors contracting.
A minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or project management capacity.
