Job Title: Assistant Lawyer - Catastrophic Loss Specialist

Location: Southampton, with hybrid working 1 day per week in the office

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

Salary: Discussed upon initial application

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Lawyer to join our Complex and Catastrophic Loss Team at Keoghs. As a key member of our team, you will work alongside Partner, Matthew Burfield, on complex, high-value multi-track and large loss personal injury claims.

Responsibilities:

  1. Case Management: Manage a caseload of complex injury claims, including high-value multi-track and large loss claims.
  2. Client Communication: Deal with insurer clients, updating them on the progress of their claims.
  3. Forensic Analysis: Conduct forensic analysis of voluminous quantum evidence.
  4. Technical Advice: Draft concise technical advice on all aspects of claim handling.
  5. Proactivity: Identify next steps required on matters and discuss them with the Lead Lawyer.
  6. Witness Interviews: Interview witnesses, draft statements, and liaise with parties involved in claims.
  7. Performance Targets: Deliver agreed performance targets, including chargeable hours and quality standards.
  8. Teamwork: Work with the team to achieve shared goals and objectives.

Requirements:

  • Qualified solicitor, CILEX or proven legal experience – minimum 2 years large loss assisting or file handling.
  • Experience of indemnity, liability and quantum.
  • Well-rounded lawyer with a deep understanding of case law, litigation practice & process and Court Practice Rules.
  • Ability to deliver an outstanding service to clients.
