Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Band 6 Specialist Nurse Practitioner to join our urology team at the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work within urology nurse-led specialist teams, both hospital sites, in and out of hours within the acute hospital settings.
  • Run protocol-driven urology nurse-led services.
  • Work alongside on-call urology multidisciplinary teams when required.
  • Populate timely electronic record keeping and discharge.
  • Administer intravesical treatments (benign and cancer).
  • Interpret clinical and sensitive patient information.
  • Utilize urological clinical skills.
  • Teach and empower other healthcare professionals.
  • Request pertinent investigations to inform diagnosis and patient surveillance pathways.
  • Maintain accurate electronic and paper record keeping.
  • Engage and utilize electronic IT platforms to enhance timely patient outcomes.
  • Utilize electronic data such as the Somerset Cancer Registry.
  • Active member of the urological multidisciplinary team.
  • Implement and contribute to the writing of standard operational policies and attend governance meetings.
  • Responsible for producing and updating patient information.
  • Responsible for holistic needs assessment.
  • Respond to departmental on-going developments.
  • Work unsupervised but managed.
  • Responsible for self and delegated tasks.
  • Recognize when help and guidance are required.
  • Direct patient care.
  • Participate in research and clinical trials.
  • Instigate nursing audit/research.
  • Supportive of all urological nursing roles.
  • Commit to educational programs required to fulfill succession planning.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in urology nursing and experience in working within multidisciplinary teams. They will be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
