Position Overview
We are seeking a seasoned, innovative, and hands-on Senior Project Engineering Manager to spearhead innovation, standardization, and growth within the Amazon Logistics (AMZL) network.
Role Responsibilities
As part of the UK/IE Field Engineering team, you will oversee a diverse array of deployment projects, including new initiatives, automated solutions, material handling equipment (MHE) reconfigurations, and other facility enhancement projects.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Managing multiple complex projects associated with the deployment of engineering solutions in the AMZL delivery stations across the UK/IE.
- Overseeing a program or portfolio of projects related to launches or retrofits involving various technology types, including automation and MHE.
- Leading the entire project lifecycle from initial concept and budget formulation to final handover to stakeholders.
- Independently managing different tactical phases of projects, addressing constraints related to resources, capital expenditure, and timelines.
- Collaborating with senior management across functions to provide solutions that address potential conflicts.
- Identifying process inefficiencies within the assigned region or at the European level and proactively driving improvements.
A Day in the Life
You will plan and oversee the execution of engineering projects in AMZL delivery stations primarily across the UK/IE, with potential EU involvement. Your daily activities may include engaging with cross-functional teams to align on program strategies, monitoring deployment progress on-site, and managing resources to achieve business objectives.
About the Team
The UK/IE Field Engineering team consists of a diverse group of project and program managers who coordinate all activities necessary to safely construct complex solutions within the AMZL network. We prioritize work/life balance and are committed to the development and support of our team members.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
- Experience in industrial, mechanical, or process engineering.
- Experience in commissioning automated machinery and systems.
- Proven track record as a project manager for multiple complex projects.
- Experience managing the project lifecycle across various functions.
- Proficiency in engineering design tools such as AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in planning and analysis tools like Excel and Microsoft Project.
- Experience managing multiple stakeholders, including external vendors.
- Familiarity with KPI reporting tools.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
- Experience in logistics automation environments.
- Strong analytical skills and a data-driven approach.
- Ability to work independently in ambiguous situations.
- Capability to perform under pressure.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a collaborative approach.
