About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Waiter to join our team at The Dorchester. As a Head Waiter, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional service to our guests, ensuring that every dining experience is memorable and enjoyable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of waiters and waitresses, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent service standards.
  • Take ownership of the dining room, ensuring that every guest receives a warm and welcoming experience.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with regular guests, understanding their preferences and tailoring the service to meet their needs.
  • Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure seamless service, including menu knowledge and wine pairing recommendations.
  • Manage table allocations, ensuring that every guest is seated in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Monitor and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the dining room.
  • Collaborate with the events team to deliver exceptional service for special events and functions.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Head Waiter or in a similar role, with a strong track record of delivering exceptional service.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with guests, colleagues, and management.
  • Strong knowledge of wine, spirits, and other beverages, with the ability to make recommendations and pairings.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, managing multiple tables and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
