Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Consultant to join our team at St George's Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to the development of respiratory services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in weekly hospital-based multidisciplinary team (MDT) asthma and respiratory clinics, working closely with respiratory nurse specialists, physiologists, physiotherapists, and psychologists.
  • Contribute to the leadership of the MDT difficult asthma clinic for children and young people (CYP) requiring additional support.
  • Share ward attending duties for children admitted to hospital with respiratory conditions, working on a 1:4 basis with other respiratory consultants.
  • Be available for telephone advice services out of hours (category B on call).
  • Perform elective flexible bronchoscopy under general anaesthesia, as well as pH studies and CT scans under the same anaesthesia if needed.
  • Develop and implement joint protocols, governance, radiology sessions, research, and audit projects with regional and national partners.
  • Participate in national and international groups, audit, and research, and contribute to the development of regional and national links.
  • Encourage and support research and teaching activities, including involvement in undergraduate medical student education.
Requirements
  • Highly skilled Respiratory Consultant with expertise in asthma and respiratory medicine.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to contribute to the development of respiratory services and lead on research and teaching activities.
  • Strong clinical and diagnostic skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
