Job Title: Materials Controller

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Materials Controller to join our team at Dornan. The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving and storing materials, reconciling quantities with supervisors and vendors, and ensuring compliance with quality management systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Receive and store materials, plant hire, and ensure secure storage
  2. Reconcile quantities with supervisors and vendors to ensure accuracy
  3. Adhere to quality management systems and ensure document control
  4. Assist in arranging transport and ensuring prompt action requests
  5. Conduct physical inventory control and verification of material usage
  6. Propose and dispose of surplus/scrap material according to company procedures
  7. Prepare, monitor, and update material tracking schedules
  8. Closely work with planning engineers to ensure materials are available as per plan
  9. Coordinate with material engineers and procurement departments for material submittals
  10. Plan with procurement departments to minimize inventory and prepare monthly materials reports
  11. Expedite with suppliers for prompt delivery
  12. Monitor stores functions and storekeepers
  13. Regularly update quantity surveyors on materials required to complete projects
  14. Ensure correct quantity and cost are debited to items in CCS/SAP systems
  15. Accurately backcharge subcontractors and suppliers
  16. Ensure correct data is provided to commercial departments for quantity and cost calculations

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in stores or logistics, ideally in the construction industry
  • Previous supervisory skills desirable
  • Proficient with MS Office and various computer software
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills to build relationships at all levels
