Job Title: Buyer

We are seeking a skilled Buyer to join our team at Reed. As a Buyer, you will be responsible for managing our client's supplier base, ensuring timely delivery of materials and services that meet quality standards and cost agreements while maintaining optimal inventory levels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyse recommended orders, determine priority, revalidate quotes, and check budget pricing versus actual costs.
  • Negotiate commercial terms to eliminate risk and ensure best pricing.
  • Place purchase orders via the MRP System and analyse sales orders to place additional orders as necessary.
  • Coordinate with quality, engineering, and operations teams to ensure 100% on-time delivery by monitoring schedules and addressing issues proactively.
  • Monitor stock levels and adjust with planning to maintain customer lead-time expectations.
  • Maintain supplier database on MRP System and foster positive relationships with suppliers for optimal cost and lead time.
  • Provide product lead time and costs to the Sales team and maintain positive working relationships with Sales/customer service.
  • Identify potential new suppliers, set up new vendor accounts, and ensure they are integrated into the MRP System.
Requirements:
  • Proficiency in working with an MRP system.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
  • Excellent problem-solving, resolution, data analysis, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Professional interaction with colleagues and suppliers.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings is beneficial.
  • A background in a purchasing engineering background is highly advantageous.
