Our client has been a leader in the field of ultra-high vacuum products and services since 1964. As pioneers in UHV technology, their commitment to innovation, reliability, and quality has enabled significant advancements in various sectors, including collaborations with prestigious universities and research institutions.

They have recently established a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and are entering an exciting phase of growth as they pursue an ambitious expansion program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all TIG welding projects are executed according to specifications and within designated timelines.
  • Fabricate and weld vacuum chambers, components, and sub-assemblies as required, adhering to quality standards.
  • Complete projects in alignment with planned schedules, coordinating fabrication and welding workloads with machine shop operations.
  • Conduct quality control evaluations and manage leak checking operations using mass spectrometry equipment on all chamber vessels.

Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Ability to manage personal workload effectively and meet all set targets.
  • Strong teamwork skills, fostering effective relationships within the welding department.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of the importance of quality, timelines, and customer requirements.
  • Focus on continuous improvement in quality and efficiency.
  • Complete work safely and effectively, adhering to guidelines.
  • Prioritize projects to achieve targets, incorporating call-in time and overtime as necessary.
  • Familiarity with the 5S program.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations while striving to enhance these standards.

Desirable Skills and Experience:
  • Knowledge or experience in welding and fabrication processes.
  • Previous experience in the vacuum industry.
  • Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing (BTech/HNC/HND level).
  • Experience in TIG welding, particularly with stainless steel and Mu metal.
  • Proficient in metal fabrication and welding, including the use of precision measuring tools.
  • Able to interpret technical drawings.
  • Comfortable working to deadlines set by the lead technician.
  • Basic knowledge of turning processes is advantageous.
  • Commitment to following health and safety regulations and improving these standards.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in TIG welding.
Personal Attributes:
  • Effective communicator with constructive feedback skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable to short-term changes.
  • Proactive in problem-solving to support project completion.
