We are seeking a skilled Quality Assurance and Compliance Manager to become a vital part of our team at Response Personnel Ltd. This position is ideal for an individual with a robust background in manufacturing quality management and supervisory experience. The successful candidate will be self-driven and committed to excellence, with a genuine enthusiasm for ensuring the delivery of high-quality products and surpassing client expectations.

As the Quality Assurance and Compliance Manager, you will spearhead the organization’s quality assurance initiatives and hold responsibility for the overall quality of products produced. You will ensure the maintenance of our ISO 9001 certification and work towards the establishment of an Integrated Management System that encompasses ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. Additionally, you will lead and develop the capabilities of our quality assurance team.

This role is hands-on and entails: conducting product inspections throughout the manufacturing process, addressing quality concerns, supervising the inspection team, providing necessary training and coaching, and ensuring compliance with established processes. You will drive quality improvement initiatives on the production floor to foster continuous enhancement.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining our Quality Management System and ISO 9001 certification
  • Developing and implementing an Integrated Management System to guide the company towards ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification
  • Overseeing product inspections to uphold our esteemed reputation for quality, through both management of the inspection department and conducting product checks at various stages of production
  • Investigating non-conformities and collaborating with production leaders to identify solutions
  • Continuously improving our products and processes to meet the highest standards for our clients
  • Championing the application of our Quality Management System across all business areas
  • Conducting internal audits on the Integrated Management System and leading external audits
  • Auditing supplier materials to ensure quality before integration into our products
  • Reporting to senior management on the performance of the Quality Management Systems and providing actionable recommendations for enhancement
  • Training new quality assurance employees
  • Advising on environmental and health & safety matters, including the responsibilities of management and staff
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations through regular policy reviews
  • Conducting risk assessments of processes and tasks
  • Managing servicing schedules for key equipment
  • Delivering necessary health & safety training for all employees
  • Assisting in the ongoing development of the quality assurance department

Our ideal candidates will possess:

  • Experience in maintaining a Quality Management System to achieve ISO 9001 certification
  • A minimum of 5 years in a Quality Assurance management role within a manufacturing setting, preferably with batch production
  • Experience in developing and implementing visual standards
  • Comprehensive knowledge of quality control procedures, health & safety, and environmental regulations
  • Direct inspection experience, including proficiency in reading product specifications and using tools such as Micrometers and Vernier Calipers
  • Strong leadership abilities with experience in team management and development
  • Competence in auditing and risk assessment of manufacturing processes
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Experience in collaborating with diverse teams to achieve objectives
  • Ability to think critically and resolve issues effectively
  • Support for calibration tasks and duties
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in obtaining and maintaining ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001 certifications
  • Experience in implementing an Integrated Management System
  • An engineering background
  • A qualification in a relevant field
  • Membership in a recognized professional body
  • Experience in the optical manufacturing sector
