Job Description

Job Title: Classroom Support Specialist

Job Summary:

New Directions Holding is seeking a dedicated and reliable Classroom Support Specialist to work within one of our partner secondary schools. As a key member of the school team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the continuity of education for students in the absence of their regular teacher.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise classes during teacher absences: Ensure students remain on task with the work set by their teachers.
  • Manage classroom behaviour: Maintain a positive learning environment and ensure students remain focused on their work.
  • Provide support to students: Offer assistance where necessary to ensure students understand and complete their work.
  • Report back as appropriate: Use the school's agreed referral procedures to report on the behaviour of pupils during the class and any issues arising.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working within a school: A proven track record of working in a school environment is essential.
  • Qualifications: A degree or equivalent qualification is preferred.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to work effectively with students, teachers, and other school staff.
  • Organizational skills: Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously are essential.
  • Flexibility: A flexible and adaptable approach to work is required to meet the needs of the school and its students.
