Job Overview

The Royal Marsden is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Specialty Doctor to join our Paediatric Oncology team as a Research Fellow. This is a 2-3 year fixed-term position, ideal for surgical trainees who wish to undertake clinical research in surgical oncology.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be based jointly between the Sarcoma, Melanoma and Rare Tumour (Surgical Oncology) Units in the Royal Marsden Hospital Chelsea and the Chester Beatty Laboratories in the Institute of Cancer Research. The post will involve working closely with the CRUK Convergence Science centre.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct clinical research in surgical oncology, including the development of research proposals and protocols
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care
  • Participate in the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and protocols
  • Contribute to the education and training of junior staff and students

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Eligibility for registration with the GMC
  • Completed Core Surgical Training
  • Experience in clinical research, including the development of research proposals and protocols
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
