About the Role

Fawkes & Reece is seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to join their team in a commercial expert capacity. As a key member of the Commercial, Estimating and Buying team, you will be responsible for delivering cost control and financial reporting duties across all aspects of construction work undertaken by the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend design meetings to advise on cost implications and provide expert guidance on budgeting and forecasting.
  • Collaborate with the development team to ensure accurate and timely budgeting and cost control.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of contract drawings to identify potential cost-saving opportunities and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Prepare and analyze construction cost estimates, including quotations and tender responses.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure optimal pricing and delivery.
  • Manage and reconcile budgets, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Provide expert advice on cost management and budgeting to the wider Commercial team.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in quantity surveying and cost control, with a strong understanding of construction budgets and financial reporting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with cost reporting and document storage systems.
  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management, such as HNC/HND/Degree.
