Job Title:

Locum Consultant in Respiratory Medicine

Contract Type:

Locum (Fixed-term)

Reports To:

Clinical Lead for Respiratory Medicine or equivalent

The Locum Consultant in Respiratory Medicine provides expert clinical care in the diagnosis and management of respiratory conditions. This role involves working within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care and contribute to the ongoing development of respiratory services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct outpatient clinics, inpatient consultations, and ward rounds, ensuring the delivery of comprehensive patient management
  • Provide immediate care for patients with acute respiratory conditions and contribute to emergency on-call services as required
  • Participate in teaching and training of junior medical staff, medical students, and other healthcare professionals
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and protocols
  • Where applicable, participate in or support research activities related to respiratory medicine
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and ensure compliance with Trust policies and procedures
Requirements:
  • MBBS or equivalent, with full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and a license to practice
  • Completion of specialist training in Respiratory Medicine, evidenced by a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent
  • Significant post-training experience in Respiratory Medicine, with a proven track record of managing complex cases and performing relevant procedures
  • Excellent clinical, diagnostic, and procedural skills in respiratory medicine
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality patient care with empathy and sensitivity
