Position Overview

We are seeking two part-time qualified Level 3 Early Years Educators to join our dedicated nursery team within the NHS framework. Our nursery is designed to provide a nurturing environment for children under five years old, and we offer flexible working hours, comprehensive training, and excellent working conditions.

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide care and support to young children in a group setting. You will be expected to adopt a personalized approach for each child, fostering their development through engaging and enriching activities. Additionally, you will serve as a mentor to less experienced staff and childcare students, while also providing guidance to parents. This role requires adherence to the standards set by regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities

As a member of our team, you will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with colleagues to create a secure, caring, and stimulating environment for children.
  • Delivering childcare services for children of NHS employees, ensuring a tailored approach to each child's needs.
  • Continuously enhancing the quality of our service by providing a rich and stimulating learning atmosphere that respects cultural diversity and promotes equal opportunities.
  • Acting as a resource for less experienced staff and students, offering support and advice to parents.
  • Ensuring the safety and security of the nursery in the absence of senior management, including managing daily operations and visitor interactions.
  • Administering medication as directed by parents, maintaining proper documentation, and responding appropriately to any health concerns that arise during the nursery day.
  • Engaging with parents through regular communication about their children's welfare, development, and health.
  • Serving as a key person for assigned children, ensuring effective communication with team members and external professionals.
  • Working closely with the Nursery Manager to uphold high-quality standards through regular meetings and collaborative efforts.
  • Overseeing the personal care of children, including feeding, changing, and addressing any special dietary needs.

Candidate Profile

Experience

Essential

  • Relevant post-qualification experience with children under five years old.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with digital observation and assessment systems.
  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs.
  • Background in group childcare settings.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Understanding of the statutory framework for early years education and the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
  • Awareness of child protection protocols.
  • Knowledge of the Prevent Duty.
  • Recognition of personal limitations in professional practice.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in childcare environments.
  • Familiarity with the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice.

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE in English at Grade 4-9 or equivalent.
  • Level 3 qualification in Childcare.
  • Paediatric First Aid certification.
  • Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.

Desirable

  • Early Years Foundation Degree.
  • Early Years Teacher Status.
