Job Title: Deputy Head Grounds Person

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Head Grounds Person to join our team at CBS Arena, the home of Coventry City Football Club. As a key member of our grounds maintenance team, you will assist the Head Grounds Person in the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the stadium's professional playing pitch.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Grounds Person in planning, implementing, and evaluating the maintenance and upkeep of the pitch and related facilities.
  • Manage and maintain the quality of the pitch, ensuring it meets the recognized standards for the club and stadium.
  • Ensure the health and safety of staff and visitors by managing and checking facilities, plant, buildings, and equipment.
  • Manage the maintenance, servicing, and storage of equipment, including turf care equipment.
  • Assist in the renovation of the hybrid and natural pitch, including tractor and trailer work, sand spreading, and seeding.
  • Operate a wide range of machinery, including ride-on, pedestrian mowers, turf cutters, edgers, and scarification equipment.
  • Gather and record information to develop trend data and analyze past usage.

Requirements:

  • Qualified to NVQ level 3 or above in green keeping and groundsmanship or equivalent.
  • Spraying certificates PA1, 2, and 6 (desirable).
  • Experience in all aspects of grounds maintenance, including hybrid, artificial surfaces, and a working knowledge of horticulture and gardens.
  • Experience in the use of turf care equipment.
  • Competent IT skills.
  • Experience in the management of pitch lighting systems.
  • Competent management and maintenance of irrigation systems.
  • Experience of managing teams of operatives, planning and organizing workloads, allocating duties, and monitoring performance.
  • Good mechanical knowledge of equipment and ability to assist with routine maintenance.
  • Ability to use a wide range of turf care equipment.
