Clinical Mental Health Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Mental Health Specialist to join our dynamic team at Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality mental health services to individuals aged 18 and over, working across designated GP practices within the primary care networks. This role involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and improve services, ensuring they are equitable, non-stigmatising, and responsive to local needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide mental health assessments, risk assessments, and risk management using evidence-based outcome measures.
- Work in partnership with service users to identify effective strategies for promoting understanding and management of mental health problems.
- Provide information, advice, education, and health promotion to referrers, service users, and carers about mental health and available options.
- Critically analyse service user information and formulate individual plans of care using evidence-based brief interventions.
- Participate in the development and delivery of primary care-based therapeutic and support groups in response to local need.
- Attend and actively participate in multidisciplinary integrated care team meetings weekly in surgeries across the borough.
- Participate in managerial, clinical, and caseload supervision to support all clinical work undertaken.
Person Specification:
- Entry on the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Register (Sub Part 1 RN3, Registered Nurse Mental Health).
- Evidence of current continued professional development.
- Willingness to undertake non-medical prescribing.
- Post-registration experience of working autonomously in community mental health services.
- Skills in assessing and formulating individual intervention plans and outcome measures for adults with mental health problems.
- Risk assessment/risk management skills.
- Knowledge of latest evidence-based practice and NICE guidance for supporting individuals with mental health needs.
- Knowledge of the principles of clinical governance/safeguarding and its application.
- Car driver.
Desirable:
- Training relevant to the role, including teaching and assessing, clinical supervision, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused working.
- Mentorship of student nurses.
