Role Overview

The Addictions Treatment Specialist plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive support to individuals facing substance misuse challenges. This position involves collaboration with various teams and external partners to ensure the highest quality of care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaboration: Engage with internal teams and external professionals, including statutory and non-statutory organizations, to facilitate effective service delivery.
  • Interagency Relations: Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with partner agencies to enhance the quality of care provided to service users.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with service users, particularly those who may be experiencing distress or exhibiting challenging behaviors.
  • Clinical Guidance: Provide expert advice to healthcare professionals regarding the management of patients with concurrent physical health and substance misuse issues.
  • Safety Assurance: Ensure that all practices are safe and effective for service users, staff, and visitors.
  • Supervision: Utilize clinical and line management supervision to support decision-making and navigate complex situations.
  • Incident Reporting: Timely report incidents using the designated reporting system, adhering to organizational policies.
  • Clinical Expertise: Deliver specialized clinical assessments, care planning, risk evaluations, and follow-up for patients.
  • Caseload Management: Manage a caseload while providing psychosocial interventions to service users within the broader service framework.
  • Evidence-Based Interventions: Implement a variety of evidence-based psychosocial interventions and support pharmacotherapy as needed, with guidance from senior staff.
  • Health Checks: Conduct physical health assessments and interventions, including venepuncture, immunizations, wound care, and urine sampling. Participate in clinical supervision through video recording of practice.
