Role Summary:

As a Numeracy Educator, you will play a pivotal role in transforming lives through education within secure facilities. This position is both challenging and fulfilling, contributing significantly to the reduction of re-offending rates among learners. You will be instrumental in assessing educational needs, creating tailored training plans, and assisting individuals in overcoming obstacles to employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessing the unique educational needs of each learner, ensuring personalized learning plans align with their long-term career aspirations.
  • Regularly evaluating learner progress to adapt training programs to their evolving needs.
  • Designing, delivering, and reviewing detailed lesson plans that cater to the group's educational requirements, including foundational literacy, numeracy, and employability skills.
  • Collecting feedback from learners and other stakeholders to enhance curriculum content continuously.
  • Motivating and engaging individuals and groups to foster retention and participation.
  • Completing necessary administrative tasks, including attendance records, enrollment documentation, and compliance with awarding body standards.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to support learners' progression towards qualifications and employment opportunities.
  • Demonstrating flexibility in roles, as responsibilities may vary across different settings.
  • Meeting contractual key performance indicators for success and effectiveness.
  • Maintaining a 100% site-based presence with direct interaction with learners.

Candidate Profile:

Educational Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Maths and English Level 2 for Vocational Tutors; Level 3 for Functional Skills Tutors.

Desirable:

  • Full teaching qualification at Level 5 or above (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, DTTLS) or a commitment to obtain one.
  • Subject-specific qualifications.

Skills and Competencies:

Essential:

  • Proficient in a variety of presentation and communication techniques.
  • Ability to manage challenging situations calmly and effectively, particularly in group settings.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, equal opportunities, health and safety, and data protection policies.
  • Passionate about inspiring and guiding individuals to achieve their educational goals.
  • Thorough knowledge of the OFSTED framework (EIF) and the ability to meet all relevant standards.

Experience:

Essential:

  • Experience in developing educational programs and delivering them in a flexible, roll-on, roll-off format.
  • Empathy with learners and experience in addressing complex barriers, particularly with disadvantaged or unemployed individuals in challenging environments.
