About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the dynamic and innovative Business Intelligence Service of Leicestershire County Council. We are now recruiting to a permanent Research and Insight Manager post to support consultation and engagement across the council.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with managers in departments wishing to carry out consultation and engagement exercises.
  • Gather requirements, design the activity (in collaboration with colleagues in the corporate Policy and Communications Teams), work with other Business Intelligence colleagues to prepare materials (including surveys) and produce high-quality analytical reports, dashboards and presentations for a variety of audiences.
About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual, educated to degree level or with equivalent skills, with experience of managing work in a busy business intelligence or consultation/communications environment. Experience of consultation and engagement in the public sector and the legal requirements for consultation would be an advantage.

You will have excellent IT skills and proven ability to learn new packages as well as knowledge of specialist software that underpins the team's work areas. Knowledge of SNAP survey software and Tableau (or similar survey and visualisation packages) and also others such as SPSS, R, and Excel (or equivalent) would be an advantage.

As well as excellent technical skills, you will have good project management, presentation, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write concise and meaningful reports and provide an interpretation of research findings. You will be highly skilled at questionnaire design and have a good understanding of the application of best practice quantitative and qualitative research techniques.

Requirements
  • Education to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject or equivalent skills, plus appropriate demonstrable experience.
  • Managing research and insight activity, projects and people in a complex environment, such as local government and/or with a range of stakeholders.
  • Analyzing and negotiating customer requirements and interpreting these to provide research and insight solutions.
  • Advising senior managers, colleagues, Members and partners on research and insight issues.
  • A high degree of numeracy and data literacy with experience of presenting data and information using a variety of IT packages.
  • Preparing high-quality reports and delivering presentations for a variety of corporate, partnership and community audiences.
  • Highly skilled at questionnaire design and have a good understanding of the application of best practice quantitative and qualitative research techniques.
