Pension Payroll Trainee Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Pension Payroll Trainee to join our team at Tulip Recruitment. As a Pension Payroll Trainee, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and management of the pensioner payroll process for clients' payrolls in line with procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation and management of the pensioner payroll process for clients' payrolls in line with procedures.
  • Ensure payroll changes are recorded correctly on the work management system and processed according to agreed procedures and timescales.
  • Reconcile payroll costs and charges against the pensions administration database ensuring PAYE deductions are made and paid within statutory deadlines.
  • Produce and distribute annual P60s.
  • Ensure payments to pensioners, HMRC and other third-party bodies are made on a timely basis and with agreed controls.
  • Answer telephone and written queries from pensioners, colleagues, partners and clients and other third-party bodies in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with agreed payroll deadlines and ensure that team planners and the payroll calendar is up to date.
  • Support other team members.
  • Maintain payroll and ancillary systems.
  • Advise and assist our pensions administration teams on any payroll matters.
  • Issue payslips to pensioners within agreed timescales, always ensuring these are sent to the confirmed and up to date address.
Requirements:
  • Educated to 'A' level, degree level or equivalent with GCSEs at grades 4 to 9 (A* to C) including maths.
  • Previous office experience would be very useful.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10 and related Office packages.
  • Accuracy and excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong maths skills with an ability to spot numerical errors.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • The ability to work on your own initiative and be a team player.
