Team Overview

The Policy and Delivery Unit is jointly led by experienced professionals, ensuring a cohesive approach to the Mayor's objectives. This unit is essential in aligning the efforts of senior advisors to ensure the successful execution of the Mayor's manifesto across different sectors, with a focus on priority areas.

The unit is tasked with ensuring that policy development is comprehensive and synchronized throughout the GLA. They oversee cross-cutting policy initiatives and manage the approval process for policy documents.

Role Overview

This position is central to the Policy and Delivery Unit and is ideal for individuals with foundational experience in policy development, project management, or advocacy within the public or nonprofit sectors. Candidates should have a keen interest in navigating a dynamic political landscape.

The primary responsibilities include:
  • Providing administrative and advisory support to the heads of the Policy and Delivery Unit, ensuring the quality of outputs and the efficiency of meetings.
  • Facilitating the governance and smooth operation of key policy forums, including committees related to the Mayoral Delivery Board.
  • Assisting senior leadership in monitoring the implementation of the Mayor's priorities.
  • Serving as a liaison for senior GLA officers and policy teams engaging with the unit.
Daily Responsibilities
  • Preparing briefings for team members and the broader Mayor's Office on various topics.
  • Assisting leadership in prioritizing daily and weekly tasks.
  • Participating in meetings with senior staff, documenting action items, and ensuring follow-through.
  • Supporting the leadership in responding to government policy announcements.
  • Collaborating with GLA officers to advance policy initiatives and program execution.
Qualifications and Experience

To be eligible for this role, candidates must demonstrate the following essential qualifications:
  • Experience in policy development within governmental or large organizational contexts.
  • Understanding of devolved governance and experience working with political figures in a democratic framework.
  • Proven ability to provide professional advice and foster productive relationships with senior management and political leaders.
  • Track record of managing competing priorities effectively in high-pressure environments.
