Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant and Afterschool Club Support Worker

Job Type: Temporary, with potential for permanence

Job Description:

We are working with a 3-form entry Primary school with a GOOD Ofsted rating, seeking a dedicated and supportive SEN Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a KS1 child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with special educational needs and be able to provide a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a KS1 child with ASD, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development
  • Work collaboratively with the school's SEN team to develop and implement individualized education plans
  • Support the child's transition to mainstream classes and facilitate their integration into the school community
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of engaging and inclusive lessons, adapting materials to meet the child's needs
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to the child's education

After-School Club Support Worker:

We are also seeking a support worker to assist with the afterschool club, working with a range of children aged 4-11. The ideal candidate will be able to provide a safe and engaging environment, promoting social skills, teamwork, and fun activities.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, preferably in a Primary school setting
  • Ability to work 1:1 with a child with ASD and support their transition to mainstream classes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with the school's SEN team and other professionals
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to respond to changing circumstances and priorities
  • Enhanced DBS clearance and subscription to the DBS Update Service
