About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to lead our residential children's service. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for the provision of leadership direction and management of the service, ensuring compliance with Children's Homes Regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the team in the development of a high-quality looked-after children practice, ensuring work is planned, critically evaluated, and reviewed, with key performance indicators met.
  • Contribute to overall strategic planning and management of the service, developing high-quality services that meet the needs of our young people.
  • Manage the team, ensuring the functions of the service are carried out effectively and in accordance with legislation, regulations, guidance, standards, and local procedures.
  • Continuously improve services in light of service user views, performance data, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Implement supervision policies, particularly as it relates to residential staff, and address any issues concerning staff welfare in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations, ensure effective induction of new staff, and ensure training and development of staff are evaluated and actioned in accordance with the needs of the young people.
  • Manage budgets held by the residential home, allocate work, and contribute to the development of unit costs for the residential homes' activity.
  • Participate in out-of-hours management cover as appropriate to the residential home, drive quality of practice, and establish, sustain, and develop a quality audit system within the service.
  • Supervise staff in accordance with the supervision policy, including regular audits of practice, and share learning about good practice, contributing to training and development activities to progress continuous professional development for all residential staff.
  • Contribute to devising, implementing, and evaluating changes with the involvement of front-line staff to continually improve services, systems, and standards in conjunction with the directorial team.
Requirements
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or a professional or vocational qualification required for the service area.
  • Management qualification (MBA, DMS, NVQ Level 4 Care Management) or equivalent.
  • Registered Manager Status, with a requirement to undertake and achieve the qualification within three years of starting date.
  • Broad experience of staff supervision/practice supervision.
  • Experience of working with children and young people in a residential setting or other equivalent experience.
  • Experience of care planning services for looked-after children.
  • Management of Social Care Services or joint services.
