We are currently seeking candidates for the Senior Clinical Pharmacist position, focusing on Family Services. This role encompasses a broad scope of responsibilities, with the successful applicant expected to spearhead and provide Clinical Pharmacy services to designated specialized areas. You will offer expert pharmaceutical guidance to patients and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Additionally, you will lead and enhance relevant clinical and pharmaceutical audits and research initiatives. Our team provides a comprehensive Medicines Reconciliation Service to all hospital beds, which supports efficient dispensing services and the effective use of patients' own medications.
The selected candidate will be required to adopt a flexible approach to support the organization's commitment to 7-day service delivery, which may involve participating in various shift patterns, including weekends and public holidays. Key Responsibilities
The postholder will be accountable for delivering an advanced clinical pharmacy service within the Family Services Directorate. This position demands exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills, along with robust clinical knowledge and relevant experience. Our department is recognized for its innovative and forward-thinking approach, with patient care at the forefront of our decision-making processes. We actively promote skill mix and role development to enhance job satisfaction and quality across all levels of the department. The department is supported by a strong management team, including Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Support Workers, allowing our Senior Clinical Pharmacists to concentrate on clinical and professional aspects of patient care.
You will oversee and mentor the activities of Pharmacists, Pre-registration Pharmacists, and ward support technicians within the clinical team. Furthermore, you will assist in managing the medicines information services and provide training to pharmacy staff to ensure the delivery of these services. You will collaborate with the Clinical Pharmacy Team Manager to implement the Pharmacy Vision and Values Strategy alongside other Clinical Pharmacy Team Leaders. Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- A Master's degree in Pharmacy, along with pre-registration training leading to registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacist.
- A Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience.
Desirable:
- Accredited pre-registration pharmacy student tutor and/or accredited clinical pharmacy diploma tutor.
- Independent Prescribing qualification.
- MFRPSI.
Experience and Skills
Essential:
- A minimum of four years of post-qualification experience in hospital pharmacy as a Clinical Pharmacist, including at least 12 months in a relevant specialist area.
- Experience in supervising and mentoring junior colleagues.
Desirable:
- Experience in recruitment and managing day-to-day staffing issues.
- Knowledge of risk management practices.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations.
