Privately Owned Business Audit Director

We are seeking an experienced Audit Director to join our team at Forvis Mazars, specializing in privately owned businesses. As an Audit Director, you will play a key role in developing and building our audit team and client offering.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in formulating audit strategy and planning with the client service management team.
- Provide technical expertise for audit assignments, offering advice to the audit team and clients.
- Lead an audit team, ensuring timely completion within budget.
- Manage audit assignments from planning to finalization of reports, adhering to agreed timescales.
- Monitor and control time spent, ensuring it stays within budget.
- Engage in people management, including coaching, feedback, performance management, training, and development of high-performing teams.
- Maintain control and stability under pressure, recognizing deadlines and urgency.
- Ensure standards and procedures are maintained by the entire team.
- Draft the audit opinion summary for the Partner and other reporting documents, including group reporting and audit committee papers.
- Ensure clients are billed according to agreed billing plans.
- Identify and capitalize on opportunities and prospects for new work.
- Contribute to business development, working with colleagues in other teams.
- Act as a point of contact for senior management and clients.
- Build strong working relationships with clients.
- Display vision and strategic perspective.
- Deliver confident and clear presentations of service features and benefits to clients.
- Ensure audit services provided are genuinely appropriate for the client.
- Produce high-quality work in line with the Firm's policy and processes, meeting relevant regulatory requirements.
- ACA / CA / ACCA (or equivalent) qualification.
- Significant experience in leading external audits, managing a portfolio of clients, and leading audit teams.
- Prior experience as an Audit Senior Manager.
- Client relationship management experience.
- Relevant privately owned business sector audit experience.
- Up-to-date technical knowledge of UK GAAP / FRS102 and IFRS.
- Experience in managing, training, and coaching an audit team.
- Experience in using audit software and Microsoft packages.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- A commitment to enhancing expertise and knowledge.
- Experience in developing new initiatives and methodologies.
- Ability to identify issues through sound analysis and application of commercial acumen.
- Takes ownership of projects, effectively delegates to others within the team, and takes responsibility for quality control.
- Develops a network of client contacts and contacts in the wider market.
