Teacher Additional Support for Learning Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Teacher Additional Support for Learning to join our team at Dumfries & Galloway Council. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing additional support to learners who require extra help with their English language skills.
About the Role:The Teacher Additional Support for Learning will work closely with teachers and other support staff to identify the needs of learners and develop strategies to support their language development. The role will involve working with learners of all ages and abilities, from nursery to S5/6, and will require the ability to adapt to different learning styles and needs.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide additional support to learners who require extra help with their English language skills
- Work closely with teachers and other support staff to identify the needs of learners and develop strategies to support their language development
- Develop and implement effective learning plans to support learners' language development
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of learners and make recommendations for further support
- Collaborate with other professionals to ensure that learners receive a comprehensive and coordinated support package
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- A strong understanding of the needs of learners who require additional support with their English language skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with learners, teachers, and other support staff
- Ability to adapt to different learning styles and needs
- Strong organizational and time management skills

Please note that this role is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2023, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
