Job Title: Teacher for Students with English as an Additional Language

Job Summary:

Dumfries & Galloway Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Teacher for Students with English as an Additional Language to join our team. As a key member of our education department, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and teaching of pupils with a first language other than English.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse group of students who require additional support to access the curriculum. You will be responsible for providing targeted support to pupils with English as an additional language, helping them to reach their full potential and overcome language barriers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the learning and teaching of pupils with a first language other than English
  • Improve access, ensure inclusion, and raise achievement across the mainstream curriculum
  • Aid the process of assessment and work in partnership with the EAL learner's own school and teachers
  • Boost the self-esteem of pupils for whom English is an additional language
  • Promote equality of opportunity

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to be a registered teacher with the General Teaching Council for Scotland and have experience working with pupils with English as an additional language. You will also need to be able to work effectively in a team and have excellent communication skills.
