Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Active Schools Coordinator to join our team at the City of Edinburgh Council. As a key member of our Children, Education and Justice Services department, you will play a vital role in developing and implementing initiatives that promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles among children and young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with local schools, community groups, and other stakeholders to promote Active Schools initiatives
  • Design and deliver engaging physical activity and health education programs for children and young people
  • Work closely with teachers, coaches, and other professionals to develop and implement school-based physical activity programs
  • Contribute to the development of policies and strategies that promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles among children and young people
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of Active Schools initiatives and make recommendations for improvement

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a similar role or in a related field, such as education, physical education, or community development
  • Strong knowledge of physical activity and health education principles and practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and partnership working
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
