Role Responsibilities

The Project Manager at Crown Commercial Service is tasked with steering and supervising the execution of projects, ensuring that objectives and scope are well-defined and met within established time, budget, and quality parameters. This role is crucial for maintaining project schedules, financial tracking, risk and issue logs, and stakeholder engagement, all in accordance with Crown Commercial Service's Project Governance Framework. This leadership position ensures adherence to governance processes, supported by the overarching Project Management Office (PMO).

The Project Manager is accountable for ensuring that project deliverables are achieved on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards, thereby enabling the realization of business benefits and critical success factors. They report to the Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) and lead a multidisciplinary project team throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.

This role is ideal for an individual who has successfully managed multiple medium to high complexity projects and possesses a proven track record of effective project delivery.

Team Overview

The Project Manager role is situated within the Strategic Projects and Governance team (SPAG) of the Digital Data & Services Directorate (DDS).

Our team consists of Professional Project Managers and Project Support Officers dedicated to ensuring successful project delivery. The team is expanding to support our ambitious change portfolio aligned with our strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage projects to achieve defined outcomes within time, budget, and quality constraints.
  • Oversee daily management and leadership of the project and project team.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive Project Plans.
  • Establish project controls and design the project framework.
  • Facilitate effective transitions between project phases.
  • Formulate the budget and monitor expenditures.
  • Manage a diverse, multidisciplinary team.
  • Ensure delivery of agreed business case outcomes.
  • Build and maintain stakeholder relationships at all levels.
  • Identify and manage project risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies and escalating as necessary.
  • Support effective governance and decision-making processes.
  • Provide updates and reports to broader stakeholders.
  • Engage in assurance reviews and implement recommendations.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications (To be evaluated at application stage):

  • Proven experience in delivering projects of medium to high complexity across personnel, processes, technology, and data.
  • Practitioner-level understanding of Project Management methodologies (Prince, APMP, or equivalent).
  • Exceptional stakeholder management abilities.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent time management capabilities.
