Job Title: Group Leader

Barracudas Activity Day Camps is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Group Leader to join our team. As a Group Leader, you will be responsible for leading a group of children in a fun and safe environment, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of a suitable base room area, ensuring it is tidy and equipment is packed away.
  • Follow policies and procedures to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for children.
  • Deliver a variety of activities, following a prepared timetable, to provide a fun and engaging experience for children.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members to deliver sessions and ensure the needs of children are met.
  • Provide active supervision and attention to children throughout the day, including breaks and lunchtimes.
  • Use resources to plan and deliver activities that are age-appropriate and engaging for children.
  • Encourage maximum participation from children and get to know them as individuals, incorporating their interests into activities.
  • Take responsibility for the general welfare and safeguarding of children.
  • Ensure the safe use of equipment and pack it away appropriately.
Requirements:
  • Experience or qualifications working with children.
  • Aged 18 or over by the start date of the contract.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Provide satisfactory professional/academic references.
  • Enthusiastic, caring, and organized with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable challenges in a childcare setting.
  • Enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Attend a Virtual Assessment Event if new to Barracudas.
  • Complete Online Training annually.
  • Attend Induction Training Day before the first working season.
  • Assist with pack up at the end of camp.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the company fulfills all Health and Safety obligations by following instructions and showing a proactive approach to safety issues.
  • Deliver activities that are appropriate for children in your care, within your qualifications, skills, and knowledge.
  • Encourage children to participate in new activities and follow the activity programme as directed.
  • Ensure children under your supervision behave safely and respect them as individuals.
  • Carefully follow camp systems, including registration and collection procedures, Health and Safety systems, and guidelines on good practice in child welfare.
  • Be a positive role model, promoting a healthy lifestyle, good hygiene precautions, and considering children's welfare.
  • Report any concerns regarding Child Protection to Management Team or the Designated Person at Central Office.
  • Make reasonable adjustments to accommodate children with additional needs or medical conditions.
  • Pending staff availability, deliver Skills Builder sessions.
  • Support swimming sessions, bringing swimwear and a spare t-shirt provided at camp.
