About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Workshop Engineer to join our team at SMT GB. As a key member of our workshop team, you will be responsible for the service and repair of machinery to the highest standards, ensuring we deliver exceptional service to both internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Service and repair Volvo construction equipment and miscellaneous equipment as required, adhering to quotations and time guides.
  • Maintain a personal toolkit to enable effective job completion.
  • Ensure software updates are installed as new versions are released.
  • Accurately complete paperwork, including oil sample reports and service inspection reports.
  • Complete electronic time registration inputs in real-time, providing comprehensive details of work undertaken.
  • Order parts as necessary and return them in a clean condition at job completion.
  • Work overtime as required and attend relevant product or systems training courses to maintain high standards of competence.
  • Work in accordance with SMT GB ISO standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental care.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • A formal engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural/HGV mechanics.
  • Relevant experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy construction plant.
  • Proven technical competence on diesel engines, transmissions, drive lines, hydraulics, and electronics.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently with colleagues, management, and customers.
  • Works with a cost-conscious mindset to ensure maximum profitability.
  • Problem-solving ability and appropriate diagnostic skills.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • High standards and attention to detail.
  • Conscientious in all aspects of the job.
  • Highly responsible, reliable, honest, and trustworthy.
  • Ability to understand technical literature, including service bulletins and parts books.
Desirable
  • Welding, fabrication, and line boring experience.
